A bedside commode is a type of durable medical equipment product designed to enable those for whom rising from bed is burdensome a convenient means of relieving themselves without having to travel far from bed.
Bariatric commodes are those built especially for heavyweight individuals. This generally means the device has the strength and structural integrity to support a 400-plus pound person.
A drop-arm commode is one in which the arm-rail on one or both sides of the commode can be lowered for easier access. These are beneficial to persons with limited mobility or those who have suffered a stroke or other debilitating condition.
